Considering starting running as
part of your New Year’s fitness
Heartbreak Hill Striders
running club will be running a
Couch to 5K program starting on
Sunday February 5 for folks with
little or no current fitness. We
meet for eight Sundays, and then
run (and complete) a 5K run. On
the first Sunday a certified
running coach will start you off
with an introduction to running -
all about benefits of running,
choosing clothing, getting a shoe
fitting, how the 8 week plan
works, safe running tips,
stretching, and more, and will
answer any questions you have.
You’ll receive an 8 week daily
schedule which gradually will
improve your fitness day by day.
Then, every Sunday, the coach will
check your progress in the past
week, answer any individual
questions, and then we complete
that day's workout. On the last
Sunday we all complete the 5K and
talk about how to work the base
beginners running program.
Our goal for this program is to
get you, in 8 weeks, into a
healthy fitness habit that will
extend long beyond the 5K. Our
gradual approach gets you fit
safely with a low risk of injury.
The fee for this program is $75
and includes a training plans,
individual coaching, a T-shirt
when you complete your 5K, and a
discount towards club membership.
The group will be limited to 12.
