Training Schedules

Track Workouts:

Winter Schedule (early November - early April):

Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm: coached workout on the indoor track at the Babson College Webster Athletic Center in Wellesley with digital clock. You must have paid the current club track fee (see "Winter Track Workouts" section below) in order to participate.

Summer Schedule (early April through October):

Every Tuesday evening  at 6:30 pm: coached workout on the Wellesley High School track (or other track facility in the area) with digital clock.

Every Thursday evening at 6:30 pm : off-track workout. Meet at the Wellesley High School parking lot.

Long Runs:

Every Sunday morning:

8:00 am (November 1 - May 31)
7:00 am (June 1 - October 31)

On even days: from St. Ignatius Church (at Boston College) --- just .4 miles beyond the top of Heartbreak Hill going toward Boston.  We always meet in front of the Dunkin Donuts shop directly across Commonwealth Avenue from St. Ignatius Church.

On odd days: from Newton Center.  We meet at the corner of Beacon and Centre Streets (across from Starbucks).

Distances range from 6 miles up to 22 miles depending on your level of fitness and current training schedule.

The HHS Clock:

A few years ago the Heartbreak Hill Striders purchased a new "state of the art"  digital clock for use at all club track workouts.  The clock allows our coaches to focus on what runners are doing rather than on their splits.

We also make the clock available to the Babson cross-country team (for use at their practices) as well as to selected races.

   

   

2016-2017 Winter Track Workouts

For the 18th year in a row, we are indebted to the Babson College Athletic Department for allowing us to use their facility for our Winter track workouts.

These are the details for the 2016-2017 winter season:
Workouts will typically take place on Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday evenings between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. (Warm-up at 6:30 p.m., workout starts at 7:00 p.m.).  Occasional changes to the day on which workouts are held may be necessary to accommodate Babson athletic schedules.  On certain dates (*) workouts will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This year workouts will be held on the following dates:

November: 2, 9, 16, 22, 30
December: 6, 14, 21*, 28*
January: 4*, 10*, 18*, 24
February: 2, 9, 16, 22
March: 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
April: 5

For members who wish to participate in weekly coached HHS workouts, we have renewed our track rental agreement with Babson. Under this agreement, we will pay an hourly rate for each hour of track use.

Based on the fixed costs involved and expected hours of use, we have set the 2016-2017 Winter Track Workout rates as follows:


HHS Members who subscribed for the '15-'16 Indoor Season ..........................$100

HHS Members who did not subscribe for the '15-16 Indoor Season...................$140

Babson Affiliates (Staff, Alumni, etc.) ........................................................$ 70

Non-Member Guest Runners 18-22..............................................................$ 10/night

Non-Member Guest Runners 23 or older........................................................$ 20/night

The earlier you sign-up, the more you can run

You must be an HHS member for 2017, in order to subscribe to the Babson Indoor season. HHS members in good standing who have not paid the full winter rate may participate in workouts by purchasing a 3-night pass at the discounted rate of $40 for 3 nights.

Non-Member Guest runners who wish to run at Babson must sign a waiver.

Please make checks out to the Heartbreak Hill Striders in the appropriate amount and bring it with you to the track. A Coach or HHS Board Member will be collecting checks at each workout.

Babson parking passes will be issued to those who subscribe for the Winter season. The first indoor workout will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd. The last indoor workout will be held on Wednesday, April 5th (unless otherwise announced).

The indoor track is at the Webster Center (click here for more details). Parking is just outside.  Go through the main entrance, down to the ground floor past security and back up to the track (which is located above the basketball court).

Members should always remember that we are guests of Babson College whenever we are on campus.  All facilities and individuals should be treated with the utmost respect and all regulations must be obeyed without exception.  Under no circumstances should children, pets, or food be brought to indoor track workouts.
