Training Schedules

Track Workouts:

Winter Schedule (November 1 - April 30):

Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm: coached workout on the indoor track at the Babson College Webster Athletic Center in Wellesley with digital clock. You must have paid the current club track fee (see "Winter Track Workouts" section below) in order to participate.

Summer Schedule (May 1 - October 31):

Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm (5:30 pm after Labor Day): coached workout on the Wellesley High School track with digital clock.

Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm (5:30 pm after Labor Day): coached workout on the Wellesley High School track.

Long Runs:

Every Sunday morning:

8:00 am (December 1 - May 31)
7:00 am (June 1 - November 30)

from St. Ignatius Church (at Boston College) --- just .4 miles beyond the top of Heartbreak Hill going toward Boston.  We always meet in front of the Dunkin Donuts shop directly across Commonwealth Avenue from St. Ignatius Church.  Distances range from 6 miles up to 22 miles depending on your level of fitness and current training schedule.

The HHS Clock:

A few years ago the Heartbreak Hill Striders purchased a new "state of the art"  digital clock for use at all club track workouts.  The clock allows our coaches to focus on what runners are doing rather than on their splits.

We also make the clock available to the Babson cross-country team (for use at their practices) as well as to selected races.

   

2009-2010 Winter Track Workouts

For the 11th year in a row, we are indebted to the Babson College Athletic Department for allowing us to use their facility for our winter track workouts.  In 2006 Babson changed their athletic agreements with all outside organizations and we worked with them on a new plan for HHS workouts.

These are the details for the 2009-2010 winter season:  

  • Workouts will typically take place on Tuesday evenings between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.  Occasional day and time changes may be necessary to accommodate Babson basketball and vacation schedules.
     

  • For members who wish to participate in weekly coached HHS workouts, we have finalized a track rental contractual agreement with Babson. Under this agreement, we will pay an hourly rate for each hour of track use.
     

  • Based on the fixed costs involved and expected hours of use, we have set the 2009-2010 Winter Track Workout rate at $140, payable in full at your first workout. If you paid to run indoors last winter (2008-2009),  your 2009-2010 Winter Track Workout rate will be $110.   Members in good standing who have not paid the full winter rate may participate in occasional workouts by paying a fee of $20 at the time of the workout.

    Please make out a check to Heartbreak Hill Striders in that amount and bring it with you. There will be no price breaks for partial year signups. The earlier you sign-up, the more you can run.

    HHS members affiliated with Babson (students, alumni, faculty, employees, etc.) will receive a 50% discount on the above rates ($55 for those who ran last year, $70 for those who did not).
     

  • To obtain a Babson parking pass, please complete the parking pass application form available at club workouts and return it to one of our coaches.

The first indoor workout will be held on Thursday, November 5th. 

Members should always remember that we are guests of Babson College whenever we are on campus.  All facilities and individuals should be treated with the utmost respect and all regulations must be obeyed without exception.  Under no circumstances should children, pets, or food be brought to indoor track workouts.
