We are thrilled that you are a member of the Heartbreak Hill Striders running club. We hold ourselves and each other to a high standard of ethical behavior while training, racing, volunteering, participating in any club sanctioned activity or while representing the club in any manner.
Members are expected to treat each other with courtesy and respect, prioritize their own and others’ safety during runs, abide by race rules, compete fairly, and avoid cheating or any misrepresentation. Additional Codes of Conduct include:
- We are committed to a supportive and inclusive space for runners where all members feel comfortable to come together to train, ask questions, share experiences and join in the camaraderie of running in an environment that is free of harassment, intimidation, bias and discrimination.
- We are committed to showing respect to our fellow club members and coaches at all times.
- Always show respect and appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to help the club or volunteer at any event or activity.
- Taunting or threatening physical violence upon another member of the club, a volunteer or event spectator shall not be tolerated.
- Never use abusive or vulgar language, or make racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs or derogatory comments at club activities or events.
- Never make unwanted sexual or physical contact with other members.
- Always abide by race rules and engage in fair competition, which includes anti-doping compliance, no course cutting, or other means of gaining a competitive advantage that is considered cheating.
- On the club’s social media channels, do not impose your personal beliefs, religion, opinions or political leanings onto others. Comments made verbally on our social media channels should not be abusive, offensive or derogatory and, if they are, the moderators reserve the right to delete the postings and ban the author.
- Always report violations of the Member Code of Conduct policy to the Board in writing.
- Membership can be revoked upon violation of any aspect of this Code of Conduct.
